The Duratron PAI (previously Torlon PAI) grades (polyamide-imide), combine excellent retention of mechanical strength, stiffness and creep resistance over a wide temperature range, utilising extremely low thermal expansion up to 250°C. The Duratron PAI grades are top-rank materials for high temperature applications.
Duratron PAI also has resistance to chemicals, including strong acids and organic materials, making it an ideal product for highly concentrated working environments.
By retaining dimensional stability over a broad temperature range, parts made of Torlon 5530 improve reliability of test connections and extend part life. (Prior materials : Vespel*PII)
Torlon 4203 and 4301 PAI's low expansion rate and excellent wear resistance enable manufacturers to increase bearing speeds and extend part life. (Prior materials: Steel Cages, Hardened Steel Balls, Bronze Bushings)
4203 PAI's extraordinary compressive strength and abrasion resistance permit higher production rates and increased support of aluminium cans during printing. (Prior materials: Nylon, UHMW, Ceramic-coated Steel)
As Torlon PAI has a relatively high moisture absorption rate, parts used in high temperature service or made to tight tolerances should be kept dry prior to installation. Thermal shock resulting in deformation can occur if moisture laden parts are rapidly exposed to temperatures above 200°C.

Offers the best toughness and impact strength of all Torlon PAI grades. Because of its intrinsic high temperature resistance, high dimensional stability and good machinability, this extruded grade is very popular for precision parts in high-tech equipment. In addition, its good electrical insulating ability provides numerous possibilities in the field of electrical components such as connectors, switches, relays, ball bearings and rollers.
The addition of graphite and PTFE provides higher wear resistance and lower coefficient of friction compared to the unfilled grade as well as little or no stick-slip in use. This grade excels in severe wear applications such as non-lubricated bearings, seals, bearings cages and reciprocating compressor parts.
This compression moulded material is similar in composition to TORLON 4301 PAI, and is selected when larger shapes are required.
When larger shapes are required, that are similar in composition to TORLON 4203 PAI, this compression moulded Torlon 4503 Polyamide-imide should be chosen.
This 30% glass fibre reinforced grade offers higher stiffness, mechanical strength and creep resistance than Torlon 4203 PAI. It is well suited for structural applications supporting static loads for long periods of time at high temperatures. The suitability of this material for sliding parts, however, is to be carefully examined since the glass fibres tend to abrade the mating surface.
