Polycarbonate PC 1000

Non UV stabilised polycarbonate stock shapes is an advanced engineered and reinforced polycarbonate, often found under the trade name PC 1000 (virgin grade) - manufactured by Quadrant Engineering Plastics. It is a natural, "non-optical" industrial quality (clear and translucent). PC 1000 has a 145°C heat resistant temperature and resists acidic and watery substances alike. PC 1000 also benefits from good electrical conduction properties, making it extremely useful in electronic applications.

Polycarbonate Characteristics

  • High mechanical strength
  • Good creep resistance
  • Very high impact strength, even at low temperatures
  • Stiffness retention over a wide range of temperatures
  • Very good dimensional stability (very low water absorption and low coefficient of linear thermal expansion)
  • Physiologically inert (suitable for food contact)
  • Higher temperature resistance than acrylic and offers greater impact strength

Polycarbonate Applications

Polycarbonate can be used as components for precision engineering, insulating parts for electrical engineering, components for medical and pharmaceutical devices. Polycarbonate proves a useful sheet material for safety glazing applications, providing strength and shatter resistance over glass.
