HPV PPS (Polyphenylene sulphide) deep blue
Techtron
HPV PPS is a reinforced, internally lubricated semi-crystalline polymer developed to close the gap both in performance and price between the standard thermoplastic materials (e.g. PA, POM, PET) and the high-end advanced engineering plastics (e.g. PBI, PI, PAI, PEEK). Techtron
HPV PPS grade demonstrates a valuable combination of properties
including wear resistance, load-bearing capabilities
and dimensional stability, when exposed to chemicals
and high temperature environments.
Techtron HPV PPS Characteristics
- Very
high max. allowable service temperature in air (220°C
continuously, going up to 260°C for short periods
of time)
- High
mechanical strength, stiffness and creep resistance,
also at elevated temperatures
- Excellent
wear and frictional behaviour
- Excellent
chemical and hydrolysis resistance
- Very
good dimensional stability
- Good
electrical insulating and dielectric properties
- Inherent
low flammability
- Excellent
resistance against high energy radiation (gamma and
X-rays)
- Physiologically inert (suitable for food contact)

HPV PPS (Polyphenylene sulphide) deep blue
Techtron
HPV PPS finds its applications where PA, POM, PET, PEI
and PSU fall short or where PI, PEEK and PAI are over
engineered and a more economical solution must be found.
Thanks
to the uniformly dispersed internal lubricant, Techtron
HPV PPS exhibits excellent wear resistance and a low
coefficient of friction. It overcomes the disadvantages
of virgin PPS caused by a high coefficient of friction,
and of glass fibre reinforced PPS which can cause premature
wear of the counterface in moving-part applications.
Techtron HPV PPS can be used in all kinds of industrial equipment such as industrial dryling and food processing ovens (bearing, roller...), chemical process equipment (pump, valve & compressor components) and electrical insulating systems.

HPV PPS Proven Applications
HPLC
Components
used in high pressure liquid chromatography are fabricated from Techtron
PPS stock shapes due to its biocompatibility and chemical resistance. (Prior-materials
: PEEK, Stainless Steel, Titanium)
Testing fixtures
Socket
assemblies extensively machined from Techtron PPS plate are used during
high power/ high speed testing of semiconductor packages. (Prior materials:
Vespel* PI)
Lantern Rings
Rings made of Bearing-grade Quadrant PPS eliminate galling and corrosion problems in centrifugal mining pumps, and allow closer running clearances -- reducing recirculation and increasing efficiency. (Prior material: Bronze)
Pump Housings
Precision machined, 40% Glass-reinforced Quadrant PPS components allow high efficiency in a broad range of chemical pump environments. (Prior material: Stainless Steel)

HPV PPS Technical Notes
From 100°c onwards (above the glass transition temperature), the mechanical properties of Techtron HPV PPS drops off significantly and the coefficient of linear thermal expansion increases considerably. Ketron® PEEK and Torlon® PAI may be suitable alternatives to overcome these inconveniences.
