Tufnol
bearing materials are widely used where tough, wear
resistant components are needed. They give good service
under a very wide range of operating conditions, including
continuous temperatures from cryogenic levels to well
over 100°C and in a wide variety of situations where
resistance to corrosion is needed.
Although Tufnol laminates are used dry in a great many
less demanding wear applications, Tufnol bearing materials
are used generally self lubricating and it is preferable
to used a lubricant to develop their full bearing potential.
Properly designed and lubricated, Tufnol bearings give
excellent service for many years and are frequently
a cost-effective choice.

Bear
Brand Tufnol
A
cotton fabric grade specially formulated for use as
a lubricated bearing material.
- Enhanced
wearing properties and dimensional stability
- Excellent
performance in a multitude of bearing applications,
using water as a lubricant, or more conventional oils
of greases
- The
low water absorption properties allow reduced clearances
in bearings
- Enhanced
electrical insulation properties
Bear
Brand is used for a wide range of wearing and bearing
applications, e.g. oil or grease lubricated bearings,
slideways, water lubricated marine bearings, pump sleeve
bearing, seal rings, mixer bearings, slipper pads, rolling
mill bearings, guide bushes and a wide variety of components
which are lubricated by water based process fluids in
which they operate.

Tufnol
Grade CBM 2008
Composite
Bearing Material Synthetic fibre fabric laminated plastic
bearing material.
Tufnol
CBM 2008 is a high performance laminated composite bearing
material specially developed to give excellent results
in a wide range of bearing applications. It is made
from a synthetic fibre fabric, bonded together with
a specially formulated thermosetting resin. The material
also contains special friction-modifying compounds,
including molybdenum disulphide, to enhance performance
and reduce wear in bearing applications.
- Reduced
wear rate
- Low
friction
- Excellent
dimensional stability
- Good
mechanical strength
- Resistant
to a wide range of working environments
- Easily
machined
Suitable
for a very wide range of wearing and bearing applications
with water or other lubricants, and in situations where
lubrication is limited or intermittent. In addition
to rolled laminated tubes for cylindrical bearings and
bushes, CBM 2008 is available in sheet form, which is
ideal for a wide range of flat surface bearings, such
as pads, slideways and thrust washers.

Tufnol
Grade 2F/3/PTFE
A
medium weave cotton fabric grade with its own internal
PTFE dry lubricant incorporated into the resin.
Tufnol
Grade 2F/3/PTFE is a unique, dry-bearing material. It
is a cotton fabric reinforced laminate, internally lubricated
by very fine particles of PTFE uniformly distributed
throughout the material. This dispersion of the PTFE
right throughout the material ensures that, whatever
shape of component is machined from it, PTFE is always
present at the bearing surface, modifying and improving
the dry friction properties.
- Self-lubricating
material
- Cost-effective
operation
- Reduced
wear rate
- Minimizes
maintenance
- Eliminates
stick-slip motion and running-in periods
- Longer
working life
- Easily

- Good
mechanical strength and dimensional stability
This
high performance dry bearing material has many applications
in the manufacturing industries where non-contaminating,
silent running, long-life dry bearings are required.
